The performance at Hei Bai Qie went well, although it was quite exhausting to concentrate on calligraphy for hours on end. There was a lot of interest both from invited guests and visitors to the market (in which the gallery is located). We were invited to extend the performance for a second day so we completed about 40 “characters”.
The first few characters were too complex and slightly hesitant but overall I was happy with the work we produced. We arranged them into 5 panels of 6 characters each.
The show is now up at NAMI art space in Taichung. It will come down on 28th May and the work will be sent to me in England. I will try to find some exhibition space in England when it arrives.
I also made a video of the performance with material shot by F. Hsiao.
